Housing

Strong communities depend on access to safe, quality, and affordable housing at every price point. MDD works to ensure housing choices meet the needs of all residents by advocating for the following:

  • Build Quality Housing at All Price Points: A regional housing strategy that prevents displacement, replicates proven solutions, and promotes policy adoption through advocacy and public-facing design tools.

  • Affordable Housing Expansion: By supporting infill development near transit and upgrading aging homes, we reduce sprawl and increase affordability across the region.

  • Homeownership & Wealth Building: We connect residents with down payment assistance, financial literacy resources, and neighborhood revitalization efforts to foster wealth-building and stability.

HOUSING APPLICATIONS HAVE ENDED.

From urban neighborhoods to rural communities, MDD is working to make sure every resident has a place to call home.

In Tennessee, MDD manages the Emergency Repair Program for the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA).  As the State’s housing finance agency, THDA is a self-sufficient, independently funded, publicly accountable entity of the State of Tennessee. THDA’s mission is to meaningfully expand safe, sound, affordable housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income Tennesseans as the state’s leading resource.

THDA Emergency Repair Program: This program's purpose is to correct, repair, or replace an essential system and/or critical structural problem that pose an immediate danger to life, safety, or health of low-income homeowners who are elderly (60+) or disabled. This is not a comprehensive home renovation program; the aim is to stabilize the homeowner's residence by making emergency repairs to ensure homeowners can continue to reside safely in their homes.
